ABOUT US
The Swiss Rifle Club Durban was established in Durban by 15 founding members and chartered as a not-for-gain institution on 19 November 1954, at the Palmerston Hotel. The club activity was initially focusing on target shooting, but with the onset of the large influx of young Swiss citizen to the greater metropolitan areas of Durban and Pietermaritzburg in the former RSA east coast Province of Natal during the 1960s and early 1970s, the club support base increased and as a result the interest base broadened. In response to this new membership influx the need arouse to offer a broader based social activity program accommodating the different interest member groupings, and the club constitution was accordingly amended and with it the name was changed to Swiss Club Natal in 1974.
The membership can be checked on the "Members" button, mostly residing in Durban and Pietermaritzburg
and a small number living outside these metropolitan areas.

The club encourages the fostering of fellowship amongst its members in a contentment inducing environment, upholding Swiss traditions and portraying Swiss values. Provide its members a place for information exchange, a support and advising centre for stranded, or simply a contact place from where new friendship can be developed.
We believe that our modern day wire and wireless communication means are indeed convenient and rapid, but can never replace our emotional needs and feels to meet and share; and what a better way to cultivate and strengthen bonds of friendship between Swiss people and associated friends than by organising regular social events!
Typically our annual program offers:
Have a Beach Picnic with games
Outings into the Mountains or near Game reserves
Green Bowling and Ten Pin Bowling
Swiss film evening and other culturally orientated gatherings
Celebrate our National Day around the 1st August
Enjoy a real Swiss Cheese Fondue Night in the winter month
Start the Christmas season with a visit by the Samichlaus
Attending our business at the Annual General Gathering and conclude with a traditional tasty Swiss
               meal and jolly socialising
We organize monthly Jassabende, Target shooting practices and casual get together in smaller interest groups.
The Swiss Club Natal is a friendly family orientated institution and all Swiss and associated Friends, if young or old, poor or rich alike are warmly welcomed to join.
